Although the plot isn't so good, the movie from start to finish holds together reasonably well. More like stoners trying to write and they keep forgetting what their doing. Sure it was funny at first, but it quickly became tedious and irritating. As far as the horror elements go, there are actually some rather gory and violent death scenes so gore hounds will be happy as well. One of the newest girls named Alison begins to have some bad horrific nightmares that drive her mad and there's a maniac on the prowl at the camp there waiting for any victim, could it be she's doing it or is it anyone of the cheerleaders or counselors.
As they start their training performances and all the other activities there, a suicide gets them really uneasy and starts triggering her nightmares. The next morning, Alison finds Suzy in her cabin with her wrists cut, dead of an apparent suicide. Garrett The Outsiders plays her cheating boyfriend, Brent, Dickey Breakin' plays Cory, McKenna Road House plays Timmy and Griffin Teen Wolf plays Bonnie. Throw in pretty teens taking their clothes off, red herring suspects a heroine with emotional problems, the sex-starved boyfriend and what do you have a generic slasher movie but this one is fun. Friendly and naive Michael is mistaken for a homosexual. Maybe we're not expecting first rate acting but a little competence would be nice. Earl and Randy line up with their cheer squad, who are a bunch of Camden outcasts.
The next day the squad is determined and ready to compete against the rival cheerleading squads. There's the fact that it doesn't appeal to all makes that really obvious. Of course, all of them are way too old for their parts but this is just something most viewers will be accustom to. As a slasher in itself, it isn't bad and does have some good moments. The characters in the movie were sort of generic and uninspiring. The only thing I didn't understand is why did you hardly see Alison practice cheer leading when her group did? This one even tries to have several moderately long sequences spread throughout rather than simply a few here and there.
The only problem is that some sort of madman has also shown up and soon the cheerleaders are dropping dead. The plot is rather predictable and you don't need psychic vision to know what it's about after seeing the box cover and title. The Sheriff assures Tipton that he will take care of the matter, and the deal is sealed by the pair having sex, an act which is caught on video by Tim. This will hinder the film a lot and really drives it down. It was later released on by in 2004. How Besty Russell was never an a list star, is a loss. The way the movie is shot also is pretty terrible.
It was released on by Prism Entertainment through in 1990. It simply can't be expressed the joy I get knowing that this film exists. This movie isn't annoying, it' just pretty stupid but in the good way. And the story is, of course, very predictable. Darnell thinks Earl, Randy and Catalina should sell cake because it would make the Crab Shack classy.
The always enviable Besty Russell heads the cult cast with Lucinda Dickey spending a bit time in a costume , Rebecca Ferratti, Travis McKenna and a delightful Lorie Griffin. The films cheese is it's greatest deficit. Those moments were sporadic at best. They all sure want that crown. Normally I'd knock a film for having such hammy acting, but this film is of a specific league where underwhelming performances are the norm. All involved are simply horrible and some seem to be in another movie altogether.
If the attendance call at the beginning won't make you laugh, then the scenes where she gets loaded sure will. But don't hold out on trying to locate the sequel. The film also makes a classic blunder keeping some killings off-screen! She arrives at a cheerleader camp to train with her teammates, where she rooms with the , Cory, who is often ridiculed by the cheerleaders; Alison's boyfriend, Brent immediately begins flirting with a blonde cheerleader named Suzy. Things turn immediately sour when one of the girls is found dead in an apparent suicide, but things go from bad to worse overnight when someone starts picking the girls off on by one. She starts having weird visions while a mysterious killer starts wiping out some of the camp's residents and soon, Alison starts questioning her sanity.
Earl decides to be Randy's cheerleader for once, and runs onto the court as the performance begins. Alison has a nightmare in which she cheers along with a group of mascots as Brent has sex with Pam. They're going to be pretty obvious as time is spent on them to get them over, and won't be ruined. You shouldn't care for the plot as you might have guessed. Trying to get on with the camp, she suspects something is wrong at the camp and decides to investigate. The murders only occur halfway through the film because the opening is too busy playing out the fat guy pranks! Sure enough, Randy decides that cheerleading camp sounds good.
