I have seen pictures of it mounted on the gas tank nope , and heard tell of it mounted on a cross-member below the bed perhaps the plate that the spare tire winch is attached to , but I don't see anything like it anywhere under there. You should only need to jack the car up but not actually remove the tire for safety I always recommend using a jack stand in addition to the jack itself. I don't have access to a scan tool. There should be internal current limiting, but I don't think you'd be able to verify its operation without a scan tool. I hooked it all back up, cleared my codes, and so far I'm good to go I've one run it a few minutes so far, but before the code would regenerate essentially instantaneously. It is easy money for them and obviously a defective part they keep using for the last 10 or 15 years but hey, its money in their pocket. Install the hose between the vent valve and the canister pipe and secure using clamps.
The filter box opening should be pointing downward. I then removed the Evap canister vent solenoid. It is monitoring voltage on circuit, voltage should be battery vent open and near 0 vent commanded closed, grounded. I saw it up there, but it wasn't until I found the diagram that I was certain. There are no unaccounted for fuel lines anywhere near the tank: the canister associated with the fuel evap system is located just in front of the tank. Broken wire, bad connection are a couple of things, or a leak between the solenoid and the charcoal canister.
